Byker Lives

Byker Lives – Roots and Wings worked with Northern Architecture and the residents of the Byker Wall to create an online archive chronicling the recent regeneration of the area, encompassing oral histories, stories, videos and memorabilia. In addition to this web-based archive, we produced a Visitor’s Guide. This took the form of a fold-out map with textual elements, highlighting areas of architectural and cultural significance. When combined with our childrens book ‘Ralph’, the various strands of this project work wonderfully to offer a better understanding of the Byker area, and celebrate its unique place in Newcastle’s history.
