Glass Bangles @ Great North Museum

Video piece for Frontier Fashion: Glass Bangles of the Roman North Exhibition

Roots & Wings worked alongside Newcastle University postdoctoral researcher Dr. Tatiana Ivleva to produce a short video for the Great North Museum’s mini-exhibition, Frontier Fashion: Glass Bangles of the Roman North. In the video Dr. Ivleva explains that the technique used by the Romans to create these seamless glass adornments was likely much the same as a technique still practised today by artisans and craftsmen in modern-day Nigeria, India and Nepal. You can learn about this ancient technique and see some examples of these two-thousand-year-old fashion accessories at the mini-exhibit, which you can find tucked away in the alcove on the ground floor of Great North Museum, where it will feature until 3rd Jan next year.
