Refugee Animation Project

With the support of London-based funding body and creative network IdeasTap, we facilitated an eight week programme of animation workshops with young refugees in the East End of Newcastle. The refugees were encouraged to tell their story through stop-frame animation, thereby learning new skills and overcoming the language barrier through creative mediums.

For this project, Roots and Wings won ‘The Kevin Spacey Award’ for innovation in the arts, and in his words “provided complete originality in dealing with a challenging issue”.
