The Pollination Project

The Pollination Project is an interactive PDF document produced by Roots and Wings for artist and choreographer Claire Pencak as a means of showcasing the work she produced during her time as a Leverhulme Trust artist-in-residence at Newcastle University’s Centre for Rural Economy. Claire’s work during her residency was based around bees and beekeeping, and saw her collaborating with social scientists, biologists, beekeepers and dancers with a focus on improvisation and the sensory aspects of knowledge exchange. The final interactive PDF is a smart-looking digital document outlining Claire’s work and findings, and illustrated with a selection of photographs taken by Claire over the course of her residency. The document outlines the value of artistic residencies and how they can be used as a bridge to create opportunities for dialogue between previously unconnected disciplines and research areas, encouraging different ways of looking at and thinking about research.
