The Lockdown Gazette

Print design for lockdown zine

Roots and Wings were approached by the For Solidarity network – a NewBridge Project and Solidarity Economy Association collaboration – to help with the production and printing of The Lockdown Gazette. The Lockdown Gazette is a direct response to the Covid-19 pandemic in the form of a 40-page zine billed as “a newspaper for the digitally excluded of Newcastle and Gateshead”. Physical copies of the papers were distributed to communities who may not have access to the internet during isolation, distributed via organisations already sending out essential deliveries.

Content for the paper was developed by For Solidarity, a growing peer-support network of organisations, projects, initiative and individuals across the North East aiming to strengthen and grow existing networks of solidarity for a more democratic, socially just and ecologically sustainable world that supports all of our material or social needs.

If you missed the print version, a digital version of The Lockdown Gazette can be read via the NewBridge Project’s website.
